The Great One

We lost a great entertainer today.   Even if you don't like country music, you had to like George Jones.

Photo from Our Last Reunion

Mack and Sondra at the 2009 Reunion.  Sondra lives in Brandon, Mississippi.  Unfortunately she is unable to attend the 50th Reunion.  We will miss her and hope that she can make the next one.

Four of our Classmates

Gurney, Johnny, Cecil and Bill.  Unfortunately we lost Gurney not long after this picture was taken.

The Catalinas from 1975

Well the weather is getting warmer and it is about time.  I'm sure many of you will remember this classic.  It is sure to get you in the mood for summertime at your favorite beach or vacation spot. I know I am ready.

Coke and Peanuts

Here is another thing you don't see anymore.  The best peanuts for your Coke were Tom's Peanuts.  Tom's was purchased by Lance in 2005.  I haven't seen Tom's peanuts on store shelves for a long time.  I guess they have discontinued the brand.  If anyone knows where you can buy Tom's peanuts, please let me know.  I suddenly have a craving for a coke with peanuts.

RC Cola and a Moon Pie

The MoonPie hit the markets of Chattanooga Tennessee in 1917 and R.C. Cola arrived in 1934. They were an instant success when they combined forces in the 1950's. You could buy a RC (Royal Crown) Cola and MoonPie special for 10 cents, back then, that was a full 16 ounces of soda and the MoonPies' weighed about near (that's southern for Approximate size) a half pound.

This combo was soon labeled as the instant fast food lunch of the fifties. Although it's never been acknowledged that the merging of the two was a planned marketing strategy or just plain luck.

I bet that all our classmates have had an RC and Moon Pie at some time in their lives.
