The Matthews Cabin in the Mountains

Becky and I stopped by the Matthews' in Valle Crucis on our way to Nashville recently and experienced their gracious hospitality. We really enjoyed our short stay and hope to visit again soon.

The cabin sits fairly high on a mountainside just a few minutes outside of town. Pat and Rex have owned the 12 acre site since the eighties but built the cabin in 2008.  It's a beautiful place.

Living room and wood burning stove.

Kitchen, dinning and sleeping loft above. Pat prepared a full breakfast complete with homemade biscuits Thursday morning. Delicious!

Their rottweiler puppy "Ammo". This puppy weighs 108 pounds but is gentle and loving.

A Selfie of me, Becky, Pat and Rex before leaving for Nashville.  Had a great time. Thank you Rex and Pat.

Where We Grew Up Part III

Following are the rest of the Google Street screen shots of classmate's childhood homes. These may be a little harder to identify.  Even I have problems identifying some of  these and I am the one that looked them up.

One thing I think we can all agree on is that appearances change after 50 years. These old houses are like many of us. Some have aged gracefully, some are rundown and decrepit, and some are no longer with us.

Where We Grew Up Part II

Following are additional childhood homes of classmates that I found on Google Streets. These may be a little harder to identify. It is amazing how things look so different from your memories of 50 years ago.

Where We Grew Up

Following are homes where some of our classmates lived when we were in high school. Many of our parents' homes are no longer standing. My childhood home was demolished many years ago.

These pictures we done the easy way. I used Google Streets so the quality may not be the best. See if you can identify the house and which classmate lived there.

Valentine's Day

I think this holiday was fabricated by FTD or maybe Hallmark.  None the less, it is the time of year that we recognized the special Other of our lives.

I thought I would go through my photographs and see if I could find some pictures of our classmates with their special Valentines. I didn't find everyone, but I found quite a few.  What a handsome group!

If I missed anyone, it was because I didn't have a picture. Have a Happy Valentine's Day.
