Some Not-So-Old Photographs of Classmates

I think we had a handsome class in 1963 and I think we have only gotten better with age.  If you have any objections to seeing your picture on this blog, let me know.  If you enjoy seeing your fellow classmates Before and After, I will continue the postings.  If I don't get some feedback, I will assume that no one is watching the blog.

Do You Remember these Class Facts?

How many of the following facts could you remember after 50 years?  I have to admit that didn't remember any of them.

A Song to Bring Back Memories

Here's a song that we should all remember.  It was first recorded by The Platters on Mercury records in 1955.  The Platters had 40 charting singles from 1955 to 1967.
This song was a played at every dance I went to in high school.  This was real music not that HipHop stuff you hear today.

Photographs from Barbara

Following are some photographs that Barbara Henries had.  Hope these bring back memories of our youth.

Looks like Harry Lee Smith, Ronnie Smith, J.M. Byrd, and W.C. Ashworth
Could it have been taken at the old Pearidge Ballfield?

Can anyone tell us about this picture.  Several players are missing.  Ray Bennett thinks it is the JV team from our freshman or sophomore year.

Barbara thinks it was made either our freshman or sophomore year.
From left to right, it's Dottie Adams, Wyonna Adams, Margie Weaver, Linda
Surles, Brenda Surles, Glenda Hart, Barbara Stephens, and Sandy Fowler.  We got
a plate of food and ate on the little back porch to the cafeteria after we
finished serving the meal.

Looking Old Classmate Pictures

We need pictures from classmates circa 1963.  Don't be ashamed.  I hope to put together something for the Reunion that we can all enjoy.  Go through your old albums and get those pictures that your classmates will like to see.  I'm sure you have some gems hidden away somewhere.

If you have a scanner, you can scan them and email the files to me.  If you prefer you can bring them to the February 12 planning meeting.  You can also mail them to me and I will be sure to get the originals back to you.  Make sure that you identify who or what is in the picture.

This is me.  I look to be about nine years old.

Becky and me about 1972
You can see that I married well beyond my greatest expectations. I want you to also note that I once had a lot of hair and check out that three piece suit.

If you have anything you would like to put on this blog, give me a call and I will tell how to do it or I will put on the blog for you.

Save the Date

It is official. The 1963 Angier High School Senior Class reunion is scheduled for May 18, 2013.

Haystacks Tornado

A waterspout/tornado struck the Atlantic Beach-Morehead City area Wednesday afternoon. It came ashore on Atlantic Beach where it did little damage, then crossed the sound and entered Morehead City between 15th and 20th streets. Again there was little damage to homes in the area. The evening news reported several hundred customers lost power.

The tornado continued north toward Crab Point which is next door to the Haystacks. Becky and I were in the condo at the time. The rain and wind was extremely strong. You could feel the wind gusts shake the building. The tornado posted just west of the Haystacks boat yard where it snapped a small pine but there appeared to be no damage to any of the boats. The condos had some minor damage, shingles, gutter downspout, trim, etc.

The tornado touched down at the Oglsby farm at Crab Point where there was extensive damage to the farm buildings.  You can see Crab Point from our kitchen window.

This is what it looked like from our deck facing the Newport River just before the tornado struck.

Christmas with the Family

We had another traveling Christmas this year, Angier, Winston-Salem, and Morehead City. It was very nice and relaxing.
